~a new beginning~

I am so tired of making excuses for the things that I am not accomplishing in my life. I need to learn, once and for all, to put myself first. It is my desire that I become the best that I can be...health being the most important thing on my list of things I would like to change.

I have decided that I am going to accomplish this new quest by breaking it down into three phases. Phase One will focus mainly on weight loss, Phase Two will focus mainly on increasing muscle and improving fitness, and Phase Three will mainly focus on working on a complete and throrough makeover (hair, clothes, makeup..the works).

I realise that all of the goals of these phases will intermingle, but I will focus on the main goal at hand in each phases.

Phase One: April 1st 2010- June 12th 2010

Phase Two: June 13th 2010- August 26th 2010

Phase Three: August 27th 2010- December 25th

All of these dates are important to me. I am starting my journey on April 1st 2010. My goal is to lose 65 lbs. I am hoping to lose more than 2/3 of my weight by August 26th, 2010.
I have read a great deal of information regarding weight loss and recently found an article that stated that is next to impossible to lose fat while gaining muscle....that made a lot of sense to me...hence the three phases. The other thing I read that spoke to me is that diet is more than 80% of weight loss success.

I am very excited for this personal challenge.

Phase One:

  • I will exercise for 30-45 min 6 days/week (moderate pace)

  • I will completely revamp my eating habits. Increased veggies/fruit, increased protein, decreased carbs.

  • I will pack my meals to go on the road and to go to work.

  • I will drink enough water based on my body weight requirements.

  • I will limit my diet coke intake to one/week.

  • I will take vitamins.

  • I will practice my skin care regime.

  • I will practice good oral hygiene (including flossing my teeth).

  • I will put my makeup on when I go out and go to work.

  • I will stop lounging in workout clothes and only use them to work out in...there is a thought.

  • I will wear nice, flattering clothes.

  • I will start practicing self praise.

Phase Two: stay tuned:)

2010
~a new year~

I have no complaints regarding 2009.

2009 was a wonderful year. My daughter graduated from high school, she moved into her own apartment, she is furthering her education...she is fulfilling her goals...this makes me happy.

My relationship has grown, not without its bumps, but we are closer for them.

I was able to check several things off of my bucket list...always good.

I believe that this next year will bring even more promise...here's to 2010!

"After awhile"....everyone needs to read this.

"After a while you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul. And you learn that love doesn’t mean leaning and company isn’t security. Kisses aren’t contracts and presents aren’t promises.

After awhile you begin to accept your defeats with your head up and your eyes open, with the grace of a woman, not the grief of a child. And you learn to build your roads on today because tomorrow’s ground is too uncertain and the inevitable has a way of crumbling in mid-flight.

After a while you learn that even sunshine burns if you stand too long in one place. So, you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul instead of waiting for someone else to bring you flowers. And you learn you really can endure, that you really do have worth. You learn that with every good-bye comes the dawn." ~Author Unknown

quotes for life...they are not mine, but I think they have so much to teach and remind us of...

The Quote ~"Our deepest fear is NOT that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are POWERFUL beyond measure. It is our LIGHT, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light SHINE, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." Marianne Williamson in Return to Love~

"Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion, or it will be killed. Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve. It doesn't matter whether you are the lion or the gazelle - when the sun comes up, you’d better be running."~

"Watch your thoughts, for they become words. Choose your words, for they become actions. Understand your actions, for they become habits. Study your habits, for they will become your character. Develop your character, for it becomes your destiny" ~ by anonymous
